How terrible!! I hope he reported it to the Police. When a vehicle is reported stolen the VIN goes to a national database in Washington DC. It's kept on file, forever. The VIN is flagged and cannot be titled or registered anywhere in the United States. This has nothing to do with carfax or other vehicle history report companies that can only track vehicles 1981 and newer because of their 17 character VIN. This database applies to all stolen vehicles no matter how old or new. Hope this helps him and he gets his car back in one piece!!
