OK. I'm leaving on Tues. at 2AM should hit there around 1:30 or 2. Staying in St Albans just outside of Charleston at friends house. We will be at casino as well on Wed. TOO BAD the Grand is MINE!!! [ I hope} that would pay the gas down & back. Rusty [ friend] said I would be parked in front of "host Hotel" ??? How he knows that ??? But he does have some "pull" with the show!! He's a CAPT. on the police force there!!!!! See you there Pete

Say Hi to Mr. Flowers for me!!! Have Rusty talk to my buddy Randy (the chairman of the show). Since Rusty and Randy work on the show together - that is where the pull comes from. Perhaps he can get you close to me. Randy said he'd save me some spots near the hotel too.

As for the grand, well me and the 'Stang boys might have an objection or two about that !

I just wanted to give an update from the Charleston Rod Run and Doo Wop show.

Wednesday night my wife and I had dinner with the Mustang Club of WV, who along with the Golden Oldies and Corvette Club of WV came to see us while I was in the hospital.

I went back to St. Francis hospital yesterday. I thanked the ICU nursing staff, one of my doctors and the hospital chaplin for their efforts to bring me back physically, emotionally and spirtually.

I have already caught up with DualQuadPete. He says Rusty, his room mate, snores! Ha! Ha!

A couple members of the Almost Heaven chapter, the Mid Ohio Valley Widetrackers have also stopped and said Hi once they saw my car and realized who I was. So they've received big hugs as well.

Over 600 cars (as of Thursday night) have already shown up. They may have to limit participation to 1000-1100 total cars. It feels great to be back in Charleston!

I managed to catch up with Larry Bailey from the Almost Heaven chapter on Saturday. It was great to see him.

My wife and I got to hang out with the Reflections (who's hit was "Romeo and Juliet" back in the 60s) on Friday - both before and after their concert. Seems they are from Dearborn Michigan. They could not believe we would drive 500 miles for a car show.

Well going back to Charleston was exciting and rewarding.

Now I saw a colo-recetal surgeon last week. They have moved up my colostomy reversal surgery from January to November 11th. So I will be in the hospital again for about a week, to make sure all the plumbing is working correctly and I can eat normally again. This time the surgery will be close to home. So in a couple of weeks from now, I will be back to normal. I can't wait.

Today is the big day for reversal surgery. I will be in the hospital for 5-7 days according to the surgeon. I can't wait to get this over with !

I just wanted to update everyone one last time.....

I had the reversal surgery on the 11th of November. I was released after 3 days in the hospital - on the 14th. I had my surgical staples removed on the 23rd (day before Thanksgiving). Everything is working properly! I am under no stenous (i.e. long distance) driving and a 15 pound weight lifting restriction for 4-6 weeks (which expires during the Christmas holidays). I have no diet restrictions either. I can eat anything I want. I can not do abdominal exercises for several more months since both surgeries had to cut through my front abs and these muscles are slow to heal. Otherwise, I can resume most normal activities at the beginning of the year.

I feel great. The only thing even resembling a complication is the fact that the scar itches...like crazy at times. I am not sure how much of that is surgery related versus the cold dry winter weather here in Michigan. I have been back in the gym 5 days a week since the Monday after Thanksgiving. I am doing 30-45 minutes of cardiovascular exercise a day plus a limited weight lifting regime (legs and upper body).

I am looking forward to coming to Bowling Green in July. I'd like to thank everyone in the POCI for their support. My wife and I truly learned the meaning of Christian fellowship and comraderie through this expereince. Car people are the greatest and most generous people I have every met. We have expanded our friends and family greatly as a result of this!

On behalf of Nancy, Jacob and me "Thank You So Very Much !"

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !!!!
